School Communities

Overview

The DEN works within school communities across Tasmania to assist in the delivery and implementation of effective evidence based drug education to students, teachers and parents/guardians within a prevention framework.

Key outcomes & Aims

The DEN aims to assist schools to:

  • Increase school communities knowledge of effective drug education and drug related information
  • Assist in changing attitudes and ultimately behaviors about alcohol and drug use
  • Assist school communities to make safe choices about alcohol and drug related issues

This is achieved through:

  • Consultation on school alcohol and drug policy or project work
  • Assisting/advising on the implementation of a whole of school evidence based drug education program
  • Attendance at school expos and health forums
  • Participating as a panel member in school functions and forums

Training and education is offered to school communities as part of a comprehensive drug education program the school is implementing, and therefore The DEN does not deliver stand alone information/training sessions that do not form part of a comprehensive program.
