The DEN, funded under the National Drug Strategic Framework (NDSF) is committed to working with communities/schools/families to enable communities to take action for their health.   To assist in achieving this The DEN provides the following services within harm reduction principles:

Information
The DEN has a National Resource Centre (NRC), which offers a variety of material on alcohol and other drug related issues including:

• Books
• Resource Kits
• Brochures & Booklets
• Audio Visual Material
• Factsheets

Schools
The DEN conducts in service teacher training in drug education issues and strategies and facilitate the development of school drug policies.   We provide teachers access to an extensive range of teaching resources suitable for students of all ages.

Parents
The DEN provides brochures for parents, conduct day and evening sessions which include information, discussions and activities. We also give advice and referral to appropriate community support services.

Young People
The DEN consults with young people to identify their needs, provide ongoing support for young people in developing their own harm reduction initiatives, and we conduct peer leadership programs.

Community Development
The DEN provides consultancy and support to assist individuals or groups develop harm reduction strategies in their communities. We can assist in developing health promotion initiatives, providing skills based workshops, and support in submission writing.
