FINES, CHARGES AND PENALTIES FOR OVERDUE OR LOST ITEMS

Any item borrowed from the NRC should be returned by the due date or time on the transaction receipt.  However, if you receive a notice advising that the item has been recalled for another borrower and that a new due date has been set, then it must be returned by the new due date.

Failing to return any item by close of business on the due date may incur a penalty as detailed below:

THREE WEEK LOANS:  Fines will accrue at the rate of $1.00 per item per day.

RECALLED ITEMS:  Fines will accrue at the rate of $1.00 per item per day.

LOST BOOKS:  Any item more than 4 weeks overdue will be deemed lost.  If the item is returned at this point, the borrower may choose to pay the outstanding daily fine total in lieu of the replacement cost.  A $10 management fee will apply to both options.

OUTSTANDING CHARGES:   When a total of $25.00 in fines and/or charges is outstanding, a borrower will automatically lose their borrowing privileges.  This loss of borrowing privileges will remain in place until the outstanding amount is paid in full.

PAYMENT OF FINES:  Fines are payable by cash or cheque at the National Resource Centre, 2 Midwood St, New Town.

Cheques should be made out to: The Drug Education Network Inc.

Addressed to:

REFUND OF LOST BOOK CHARGES:  If an invoice for a lost item has been paid and the item is found and returned, only the replacement cost of the item is refundable.  The $10 management fee is non-refundable.
