Alateen
A group of young Al-Anon members, usually teenagers, whose lives have been affected by someone else´s drinking. Young people come together to share experiences, discuss difficulties, learn how to cope with problems and help each other. For referral or information contact Al-Anon on 1300 252 666 or 1300 ALANON.

Alcohol and Drug Information Service - Free Help Line
A FREE 24 hour state wide service which offers information, counselling and referral advice for users, families, friends, students, service providers and the public. Phone: 1800 811 994 (Free Call)

Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS)
The Tasmanian Alcohol and Drug Service provides information, alcohol and drug assessments, access to treatment or referral to other services, professional counselling, group work programs, methadone and other pharmacotherapy programs and other services.

Alcoholics Anonymous
The members´ primary purpose is to stay sober and help others achieve sobriety. The group shares experience, strength and hope with each other to overcome their problem. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are various meetings around Launceston and Hobart on most days of the week. There are also meetings in Beaconsfield, Bridgewater, Burnie, Campbell Town, Cygnet, Devonport, George Town, Glenorchy, Kingston, Newtown, Moonah, Queenstown, St Helens and  St Marys. Counselling Online
Counselling Online is a service where you can communicate with a professional counsellor about an alcohol or drug related concern, using text-interaction. This service is free for anyone seeking help with their own drug use or the drug use of a family member, relative or friend. Counselling Online is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across Australia. This service is run by Turning Point.

Family Drug Support Line (FDS)
The FDS supports families struggling as a result of drug use. They aim to assist in any way possible to empower families to cope with the realisation of their situation and to survive it intact. It is a seven day, 24 hour telephone line Australia-wide, manned by volunteers offering help to diffuse crisis, proffering strategies for coping and giving any information required. FDS is a caring, non-religious and non judgemental organisation. FDS is primarily made up of volunteers who have experienced first hand the trauma and chaos of having family members with drug dependency. They have travelled the same road. Phone: 1300 368 186   

Narcotics Anonymous
Narcotics Anonymous is a non-profit, international, community-based organisation for recovering addicts. Members learn from one another how to live drug-free and recover from the effects of addiction in their lives. Recovery in NA focuses on the problem of addiction, not on any particular drug. It is based on the principles of Alcoholic Anonymous. For recorded information about NA meeting times and locations call:- 1300 652 820

Quit
Quit is dedicated to eliminating the pain, illness and suffering caused by tobacco. It offers Quitline, is a confidential telephone service providing information, support and advice for quitting. It is just the cost of a local call no matter where you are calling from in Australia (except mobile phones). You can speak to trained advisors who have had lots of experience in helping people quit. Available from 8 am to 8 pm, Mondays to Fridays. Ring if just thinking about quitting and not ready to have a go yet so you will know what help is available in the future. Advisors can help work out how you can be of support to someone you care about who smokes. They can send you some useful information. QUIT packs can be sent free of charge (this service is available 24 hours a day). Phone: 13 7848

TasCAHRD
The Tasmanian Council on AIDS, Hepatitis and Related Diseases (TasCAHRD) aims to reduce the risk and incidence of and to support those affected by HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and Related Diseases. It offers various programs (including needle exchange), information, referral, education and training. Phone 1800 005 900 (State Wide)
